One of the most rewarding aspects of being a Bowen Therapist is working with mothers and their babies. Because Bowen is so gentle, it is a natural choice before, during, and after pregnancy - for you and your baby. 

Many female clients at the Bowen Centre have found Bowen technique helpful, most commonly for: 

  • Pre-conception balancing, and as an aid to conception, Bowen can help get the body in optimum shape for pregnancy;

  • During the second trimester when the body produces the hormone relaxin, which softens the pelvic ligaments to make birth easier, but which can lead to SPD (symphysis pubis disorder) if over-produced or if the pelvis is unbalanced;

  • During the third trimester with general pregnancy pain and discomfort, and also to encourage the baby to adopt the optimum position for birth;

  • In the weeks following birth as the body re-adjusts; 

  • With infant colic, which often resolves with just one or two Bowen sessions. 

Bowen can also help new dads prevent back strain, which all too commonly occurs when placing babies in child seats in cars.
